Responsibilities:
I carry the responsibilities of the student and family ministries at Sojourn Community Church. I oversee the discipleship and ministry development of teens in the middle school and high school years. I believe the church’s responsibility through the student ministry is to come alongside and help strengthen the families within our church and connect with families outside of the church. Most people come to know Christ during the teen years which makes student ministry a prime ministry for evangelism.
Family:
Lanette and I have been married for over 20 years. We have 5 daughters, McKenzie 17, Mallory 15, Madison 12, Morgan 10 and Macee 7.
Hometown:
Both Lanette and I are from Oklahoma. I was born in relatively small town in southeastern Oklahoma, Ardmore and Lanette is from the Oklahoma City area.
Education and Experience:
I have a B.S. in Environmental Chemistry, a masters degree in Old Testament/Hebrew from Oral Roberts University in Tulsa Oklahoma and PhD from Southern Seminary. Sojourn is my fourth church as a student pastor in a 25 year journey. I have also taught for 5 years at Boyce college, the undergraduate school of Southern Seminary. I teach youth classes and leadership development.
Vision for your position:
My prayer is that I can take part in raising up pastors and ministers who have a passion to reach students wherever Sojourn is lead to plant churches. I love to help train and equip others in our efforts to minister and reach students. I really believe there are only two things to do: Make disciples as Matthew 28:19-20 states and to train the saints for the work of ministry as instructed in Ephesians 4.
